2020 Resolutions

Posted on:December 27, 2019

As we move into the new year, many people have taken part in the time-honored tradition of setting New Year’s resolutions. While it is estimated that around 80 percent of people break their New Year’s resolutions within the first month and a half of a new year, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t value in setting them and trying to make improvements to your own habits.

Going into 2020, there are several things you can resolve to do that both will help improve the electrical safety in your home, as well as reduce your overall electrical costs.

As far as safety goes, make sure that you’ve done a thorough inspection of your home. Repair or replace any appliances or faulty wiring and make sure alarms are working with new batteries. It’s important to make sure all your breakers and fuses are labeled properly so that you can identify and address any tripped circuits quickly and conveniently.

Doing things like resetting your ground fault circuit interrupters and getting a whole-house surge protector also can help to increase your home’s electrical safety level. Checking that all these things are completed will ensure that you’ll remain safe throughout both winter and the rest of the new year.

For lowering electrical costs, you can bring down the bills with many simple fixes. Although they may seem obvious, things like switching to LED light bulbs, making sure to turn off lights when leaving and unplugging chargers for phones and laptops when not in use can all add savings back into your wallet.

Resolving to do even a few of these things at the start of the year can lead you into a safer and more cost-efficient 2020, so you can focus on all your other resolutions throughout the year. What are your resolutions? Let us know on social media!
